The Receiver-Drier and Car Air Conditioning Problems
Car air conditioning problems can often be traced to an issue with a single component in the automobile air conditioning system. In some cases, the trouble will be with the receiver-drier. Though this part is made to be regularly replaced, it can still break down, even if you do replace it regularly.
The receiver-drier handles a few parts of the A/C process. If any of these is interrupted, you'll have car air conditioning problems. One function of your receiver-drier is to act as a filter within the A/C system. It also regulates the amount of liquid refrigerant in your system.
There is one more thing for which your air conditioning relies on the receiver-drier. There are elements within the receiver-drier that catch and soak up moisture. This is vital, since excess moisture can wreak absolute havoc on your A/C.
Of course, the receiver-drier is just one part of your A/C system that could malfunction. You could also run into problems with your automobile air compressor, in which case your A/C will not work. As with the receiver-drier, if the compressor fails, you'll want to replace it with a new part.
