Air Conditioning Repair

Air conditioning system for engine heating is one of the important parts of the car body. Keeping the air conditioning device in top quality is essential to stop overheating of the engine. Design and make of every cooling system is different and according to manufacture’s requirement. Yet there are aftermarket products available which can be selected to keep the engine cool and running. Any cooling system has two types of working. One is the pumping and the other is piping. These two areas need to be clean and clear which can increase the cooling of the engine when it’s hot. Piping ensures the working and supplying of fluid in the radiator. Pumping works like the human heart, it supplies water to different parts of the radiator with help of piping. It is a two way process which works perfect to keep the engine cool.

These two parts will be briefly discussed regarding their maintenance and repair. Pumping function of the cooling device is handled entirely by the water pump which is fixed besides the radiator. It helps in keeping the coolant moving in and out of the radiator. There is a need to keep the radiator grill clean so that dust and spores cannot accumulate and obstruct air passing through the radiator. Technology is developing day by day and there are new inventions which help in keeping the car cool. In today’s technology the basic water pump is gear or belt driven. These are the two types of water pumps available in the market. Apart from these two types an additional pump can be attached to increase the movement of the coolant in the radiator. It improves the cooling movement and ensures water to reach every part of radiator grill. In old cars there is small rotary engine which creates force for the belt to move. In new cars the working of the radiator belt is done according to the movement of the engine.

Cooling through pumping

The radiator pumps coolant through out the engine. It is the job of the pump to ensure new refined coolant enters the pipe and is pumped to various locations. Pumping activity is done through different ways as the process relies on the type of pump fitted on the radiator. In most common cars pumping is done through belt or gear system. A V-Belt is attached to the radiator pump. When the pump is on it forces water out of the tank directly to the radiator grill. Water is then collected and forced out in different directions. This V-Belt works on with the help of a motorized pump which is fixed besides the radiator. The other type of pumping is through gears. These gears are attached outside the main shaft of the engine. When the engine is started the rotating shaft gears on the pump. When the pump starts it forces the water out of the radiator grill. This type of pumping is found in old cars. Gear attachment is directed towards the pumping. There is no involvement of any part which disrupts the working of the engine or the radiator pump. In the previous type of pump, to increase the cooling an additional pump can be fixed. At times the size of the engine is huge and power generated is going to be more. Such power house needs to be cooled off with ease. With an additional pump cooling can be more, it even utilizations less fuel.

During a car servicing it is essential to oil the pump and clean the grill of the car. Cleaning the grill will improve the intake of air and it will be directed to the engine parts. If the grill has bends it must be replaced immediately since cracking can take place. It is one of the essential parts of a cooling system. It has an adjoining fan which cools off air taken in the engine part. The radiator fan keeps on moving when the car is in motion or has halted to take a break.

Cooling through piping

Without piping the coolant cannot reach the heated parts of the engine. Piping involves different types of hoses and control valves which forces the coolant to dispense the heat. The heater core works perfect for cooling. All of them are in contact with the coolant when the engine is running. As time passes by these parts keep on deteriorating. If they are cracked or broken they need to be replaced to avoid unwanted engine problems. At times the engine can shut down due to a small cut in the piping. Leaking parts are dangerous and they can obstruct the working of an engine

Maintenance of these piping parts should be done from time to time. They either need to be repaired or replaced. Coolant replacement is a must, every coolant has a certain kilometer run which needs to be checked. Replacing the coolant in time will keep the car running for under utilization of fuel. The advised time allotted for checking of piping parts is around two years. Abrasion, leakage, flexibility and cracks can arise if the hoses are not replaced in time. You can trace if the coolant has been leaked by checking the ground when your car has been parked for more than an hour. Coolant will start dripping on the floor through the crack which has taken place in the piping. Changing and replacing hoses should be done in a year’s time. They are usually damaged in rainy season.

Radiator coolant control valves ensure smooth flow of fluid to cool the engine. These control valves regulate the supply of coolant through the pipes. If these valves are not working in the right manner the car might overheat in less time. If these valves are supplying more coolant it will drain off leaving the expansion tanks empty. The other way is by providing less coolant in the pipes. If less coolant is supplied the car will overheat at lower RPM.

These are two important functioning of coolant systems installed in a car. Checking of coolant systems should be done at a registered auto dealer. If any problem persists in the working it should be solved immediately. There is no compromise for replacing the pump or pipe parts. At times the car can even over heat at low RPM. When the car is overheating in less time it can be assumed a problem has occurred in the water cooling system of a car. Keeping the temperature down is the ideal move, parking your vehicle at the side and then investigating the problem is the right move.
