Quick Tip automotive Air Filters

  1. You should check your car's air filter every other month for clogs, says Ask DIY Car Care expert Trisha Hessinger.

  2. If you see dirt and oil built up on one side of the filter, it's time for a change.

  3. Cars with carburetors have a large round filter found inside an air cleaner that sits on top of the carburetor. You can get to the filter by removing one wing nut.

  4. Cars with fuel injection have their filters lodged in an air-cleaner housing. Usually you can remove that by removing a screw or releasing the clamps.
