Quick Tip automotive Air Filters
- You should check your car's air filter every other month for clogs, says Ask DIY Car Care expert Trisha Hessinger.
- If you see dirt and oil built up on one side of the filter, it's time for a change.
- Cars with carburetors have a large round filter found inside an air cleaner that sits on top of the carburetor. You can get to the filter by removing one wing nut.
- Cars with fuel injection have their filters lodged in an air-cleaner housing. Usually you can remove that by removing a screw or releasing the clamps.
