Automotive Quick-Tip : Truck-Bed Liner Kit

Most pickup-truck owners are familiar with molded plastic or spray-in bed-liners that are available to protect the bed of the truck. A less expensive option is a do-it-yourself custom bed-liner kit.

Here's how it works.

  1. The kit comes with everything you need to protect a 6-foot truck bed. The liner is a polyurethane material that's formulated to protect the metal surfaces from scratches and rust. The cost is less than $100.

  2. To apply the bed liner, first you'll need to clean the truck bed and mask off any areas you don't want covered.

  3. Next, simply paint the polyurethane material onto the bed of the truck using the rollers and other materials provided.

  4. The polyurethane dries to touch in just an hour, and the truck bed can be used safely in 24 hours.

  5. Since the coating bonds to itself, any repairs to the liner can be made by simply painting more polyurethane onto the damaged area.
